Berea Ministries is searching for a qualified, highly motivated, relational, and organized individual who will join our kitchen team to further expand our impact in New England by ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient use of the kitchen. This individual will assist with planning menus, ordering food, and executing each meal in a timely manner.
This individual must be experienced in cooking, food ordering, and leading a kitchen staff of employees and volunteers. This role also requires someone to be detail oriented regarding administrative tasks, adaptable, and ready to learn. This is not an entry
level position.
The Executive chef facilitates a welcoming environment for all campers, staff, and guests by planning and providing delicious meals, making accomodations for those with dietary restrictions, and leading a team of staff and volunteers. This role requires a high level of communication between various specialties as well as with the kitchen staff at other sites.
Qualifications:
• An ideal candidate is disciplined, dependable, teachable, good with people, has strong communication skills, general common sense, flexibility, a passion for excellence, and is willing to grow.
• Experience leading a kitchen is required.
• A ServSafe certification is preferred.
• A passion for Jesus Christ and His Church is required.
• Experience working in camp ministry in some capacity is preferred.
There is considerable room for professional growth for a person who is motivated, aspires to be used by God in great ways, and wants to have tremendous impact for the Kingdom.
Berea was founded in 1945 by 15 churches from the Plymouth Brethren movement. Today, Berea serves over 680 churches and 10,000 people annually. Berea’s mission is to create and continuously develop programs which appeal to children, teens, adults and families such that they respond to the message of Jesus Christ within the context of meaningful relationships and memorable experiences. There are several different branches to this endeavor. Berea’s primary ministry is to students through both summer and winter camp programs. Greenhouse is a ministry of Berea, which creates and curates training environments to help churches thrive. These one-day, off-site training events are another way that we serve and resource New England churches. In addition to our ministry with students, Berea also offers programming for the whole family including Family Camp in August, Mother-Daughter and Father-Son Retreats in the early summer, and Women’s Retreat and Man Camp events in the fall. In short, our goal is to change lives for Jesus Christ. We’re partnering for life transformation by encountering Christ together and advancing the church.
